Horredsmattan - Swedish Rugs since 1956
Horredsmattan is about Swedish tradition, providing opportunities to furnish homes with attractive rugs of outstanding quality. And we've been doing exactly that since 1956.
At our little factory in Horred, both our staff and the building itself have a strong history of craftmanship. Patterns are designed here with a focus on our Swedish roots, while also taking inspiration from around the world. Rugs are woven using traditional techniques by people with unique skills and passion for handicrafts.
Horredsmattan is made by HRD Carpets, with its own production facility in the little village of Horred, right in the very heart of Swedish textile country.
When the Horred rug was born in the mid-1900s, the plastic rug took over the rag rug's place as the most popular rug. The trend has continued ever since, and in the last 10 years has even increased. But the demands from customers have become higher. Today, more and more people are looking for local, locally produced and environmentally friendly alternatives. Our rugs are therefore made of plastic, yarn or a combination of both, all of which are REACH certified. This means that the carpets do not contain any environmentally hazardous substances. The plastic comes from the neighbouring company Gislaveds Folie, where environmental awareness is high. They were environmentally certified in 1997 according to ISO14001 and have signed the world's first environmental programme for PVC products. As progress is made in the plastics industry, we are careful to replace things that can be harmful to people and the environment.
