About the Artist: Heidi Lange
Heidi Lange is a renowned artist, an experienced professional guide, and an avid traveler and businesswoman. Her international background is as diverse as the spectrum of her artwork, being of German origins with a Swedish heritage, she grew up in Solna on the periphery of Stockholm. Her youth and her travels around the world including her time in Rome and East Africa have a big influence on her pieces. In Rome she spent 4 years at the Art Academy located there. She lived in Kenya for 30 years and became famous for her African screen prints. Now she is back in Sweden and gets her inspiration from rock-paintings, Viking picture-stones and lap-drums.
How it's Made: Batik
The original drawing is made with ink on paper. The cotton is tie dyed by hand. Heidi prints the design on the tie-dyed cotton with the silkscreen frame.
