Table Runners & Tea Towels

(77 products)

Scandinavian table runners and tea towels are where everyday linens become heritage. This collection is anchored by Ekelund Master Weavers — the centuries-old Swedish mill — whose Dala horse patterns (Svea, Siljan in grey or maroon, Kurbitshast flower horse) are the most recognizable Swedish folk runners made. Alongside Ekelund, we stock handwoven antique-loom flag runners in 100% cotton — a Swedish Flag Runner (56–59") and two lengths of Norwegian Flag Runner (46–49" and 56–59") woven on the original looms. For Christmas, the Ekelund Julrand Holiday Runner and the Jul Apple Table Runner (36"). And for color-first modern tables, the Carola Red and Blue & Yellow Floral Jacquard (68 × 20"). Every runner is either woven in Sweden or imported from a named Nordic mill. Most designs come in both tea towels and table runners.

About Ekelund Master Weavers

Ekelund Linneväveri ("Ekelund" for short) is a Swedish weaving mill founded in 1692 — the oldest surviving weaving mill in Sweden and one of the oldest continuously operating textile producers in Europe. The company has been based in Horred, Sweden since 1910.

Ekelund produces cotton and linen jacquard table runners, tea towels, and blankets with distinctly Swedish folk-art patterns. Their Dala horse runners (Svea, Siljan Grey, Siljan Maroon, Kurbitshast, Julrand) are among the most recognizable Swedish heritage textiles made. Patterns draw from Swedish folk-art tradition; the weaving is done on looms at the Horred mill.

Handwoven Antique-Loom Flag Runners

Alongside the Ekelund line, this collection stocks Swedish Flag Runners (56-59") and Norwegian Flag Runners (46-49" and 56-59") in 100% cotton, handwoven on antique looms. Each runner is a small production made on equipment that has been producing Swedish and Norwegian textiles for generations.

The Swedish Flag Runner carries blue-and-yellow across its full length; the Norwegian Flag Runner carries red-white-blue. These are heritage-holiday tables — Midsummer, National Day, Christmas, Norwegian Constitution Day (Syttende Mai) — or any table where the country colors belong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Ekelund?

Ekelund Linneväveri is a Swedish textile mill founded in 1692, based in Horred since 1910. It's the oldest surviving weaving mill in Sweden and the producer of the Svea, Siljan, and Kurbitshast Dala-horse runners that are among the most recognizable Swedish heritage textiles.

Are the flag runners really handwoven on antique looms?

Yes — per product listings, the Swedish and Norwegian Flag Runners are 100% cotton, handwoven on antique looms. Each is a small production.

What size runner do I need for my table?

Measure the table length and add 6-8 inches so the runner hangs 3-4 inches beyond each edge. A 60-72" dining table works with a 56-59" runner (centered) or a longer 68"+ runner.

Can I machine-wash an Ekelund runner?

Yes — machine wash cold, tumble low or lay flat to dry. Iron on cotton setting. Product pages specify.
