About Heidi Lange

Heidi Lange is a German-born artist raised in Solna, just outside Stockholm. After earning a university degree in linguistics and art history, she studied publishing design at Bergh's Reklamskola, then moved to Paris — where she was awarded a scholarship to study at Rome's Art Academy and eventually earned its highest honor, the Minerva Prize. Her awards also include the Golden Minerva, UNESCO, and UNEP prizes.

Lange is best known for her batik silkscreen prints — a technique inspired by Indonesian wax-resist dyeing, adapted with screen printing. She lived in Kenya for 30 years and established a production studio in East Africa, where many of her batik pieces are made today. She now divides her time between Sweden, Rome, and East Africa.
