Story
More Norwegian Fjord horses! I’ve been really enjoying drawing these small draft horses. They look like ponies next to a Clydesdale or Belgian, but they pack a lot of strength in their compact forms. Yes, they are technically from Norway (the southwestern fjord region, specifically), and Dala horses are specifically from Dalarna, Sweden. But the stout Norwegian Fjords look like the very model for a Swedish Dala horse, so once again I mix the two nationalities.
Cultural Note
The Norwegian Fjord horse is one of the oldest and purest breeds in Europe, known for its strength, calm temperament, and distinctive two-tone mane. Its resemblance to the Swedish Dala horse, a symbol of joy and tradition, makes this artwork a celebration of shared Nordic heritage. Perfect for Scandinavian décor or gifting to lovers of folk art and equine beauty.
